A new PC patch was supposed to be released earlier this week, as we reported, but DICE has delayed the patch over an error on Steam. DICE will fix the patch before deploying it to both Steam and non-Steam users. Expect the patch to be ready Monday.

DICE has revealed via the official forums that a new PC patch is in works and will be released some time next week, they’re targeting for Wednesday. A change log or release notes weren’t provided, but don’t expect anything too drastic besides big fixes.
At E3, EA revealed the first expansion to Bad Company 2, or rather a DLC called “Vietnam”. It consists of 4 new maps (multiplayer only) and possible new weapons and vehicles as well.
DICE has released the trailer for the upcoming VIP Map Pack 3 DLC. There are no “new” maps, just the Laguna Alta map in Squad Rush mode and the Nelson Bay map in Squad Deathmatch mode. The new update is free for those who purchased BC2 as new in retail. For PC gamers, the new DLC will simply be as part of the regular game updates.
In the above video you can witness the countermeasures (flares) that have been added in the R8 patch — we’ll have more details on the patch soon. Check out another video with some extended Apache action here.
According to a Russian website, which claims to have details on a new patch, Bad Company for PC will be getting an infantry-only mode, alongside several improvements, like a better chat function and the ability to toggle on/off crouch and zoom. Knife-combat is set to be improved as well. Also, there appears to be a new map as well, but this remains unconfirmed (and unlikely, a this point).
We’ll have more details soon, and DICE is expected to make an announcement in a few days time. No news on whether the infantry-only mode will be carried over to consoles as well.
EA has just announced that Bad Company 2 has sold a record breaking 5 million copies after being on the market for just two months. This surpasses all-time sales of the first game, which are rumored to be around 4 million. As we reported earlier, it took the game just three weeks to reach 2.3 million units sold.
Furthermore, EA revealed that the downloadable-only title Battlefield 1943 has sold 1.5 million copies on the PS3 and Xbox 360.
EA’s expects additional earnings wiht a lineup of DLC for Bad Company 2, which will be the most extensive DLC for a Battlefield game to date.
EA is running another discount on their EA store, where you can get one game with 10%, if you get two games, you get 20% off each game, and if you get three games, you get 30% off each game.
Bad Company 2 is one of the games in the promotion, so if you’re looking to get some digital copies of games, now is a good time to act — we recommend the Bad Company 2 + Mass Effect 2 + Dragon Age combo for some awesome gaming.

A day after releasing the client update, DICE is rolling out the server balance update for Bad Company 2 PC servers. The new update brings a wide set of fixes, including, but not limited to:
- Increased the base range of all Automatic and Semiautomatic weapons for more consistent close range combat.
- Slightly increased the damage of Semiautomatic rifles over long range for more consistent damage output.
- Increased the zoomed burst accuracy of LMGs and decreased LMG accuracy when moving to reduce LMG run and gun.
- Reduced the lethal blast range of the 40mm grenade and M2CG to highlight their role as a secondary weapon against infantry.
- Increased the repair and overheat speeds of the Power Tool. Now overheats sooner but repairs the same amount before overheating.
- Decreased the range of Bolt Action Sniper and Pump Shotgun Slug rounds when using Magnum Ammo for better Kit Balance, especially in Hardcore.
- Slightly increased the Health of soldiers in Hardcore for better Kit Balance.
- Decreased the benefit from Vehicle Reload Speed to balance it against other Vehicle Specializations
You can see the full list of changes here. DICE expects to release this update on the Xbox 360 and PS3 after the patch has been certified by Microsoft and Sony, respectively.
