New “Onslaught” mode not coming to PC
DICE has announced a new DLC for Bad Company 2, which includes a new mode called “Onslaught”. However, the announcement is only for the console versions of Bad Company 2, and the new mode and DLC will not find its way to the PC. The reason? As DICE’s Barry Tingle says:
“The problem we have on PC is that all our servers are dedicated with providers. Changing a server from Conquest 32 players to Onslaught 4 players cuts out 28 player slots from the total amount available. This could have a dramatic affect on the PC online environment if enough servers changed to Onslaught.”
Tingle added that they’re looking into bringing the new mode to PC without affecting how many player slots are available. They do face a legitimate problem: if enough servers converted from 32 players to 4 player onslaught modes, there simply wouldn’t be enough lots for everyone to play.

June 3rd, 2010 at 11:33 pmThats the biggest croc Ive ever heard. first they could make it 8 player and double the AI. second there wont be a mass exodus of servers switching to COOP. and right now there are hundreds of empty servers. full 32 slot empty servers!! More empties than servers with players in them. and out of all those servers how many have 2 to 8 players on them at a time? probably about a hundred of those. there not going to run short on slots.1 out of 10 servers may run COOP. we have that in 1/8 of the empties on the busiest of times.

I decided to check out how many slots were open… 8710 servers listed in the screenshot above. i sorted them by population with empty at the top, and no location filtering.
Look where the scroll bar lands when I got to the first populated server. almost at the bottom. Its not hundreds of empty servers and open slots but thousands. Onslaught is not going to be 5 times more popular than all the other 4 modes combined. it may be more popular than squad rush is and thats about it.

Is about as close to ever going to happen as the writer turning into a pumpkin at midnight tonight. Its absurd! theres enough open slots right now to fill 4 other gametypes and have empty servers after onslaught..

June 24th, 2010 at 3:26 pmthats so unfare =( because there IS like 1000 empty servers in pc (still crowing) and still they cant make it on the pc. and it would be so popular that i think it will be the second best mode in the game!(or best).and if they just cant publish the mode so what about the patch then? the mark v patrol boat sounds interesting even in the pc! i think the game makers should check the server thing first before doing anything! OUT.

June 30th, 2010 at 5:51 amThis is just a hunch, but i know that this mode came in an update about 950 mb on consoles and they just downloaded a 100kb file when they actually bought the dlc, sooooo…. I think that maybe the recent pc update ( similar 950 mb size) probably has this mode in it and we will be able to buy/unlock it soon. FINGERS CROSSED

July 13th, 2010 at 2:37 pmHere’s an idea for PC players, how about you let PC users host there own onslaught games from there PC’s sort of like Modern Warefare 2, or simply allow a PC user to make there own dedicated onslaught server?
