Bad Company 2 sees decline in online play
After Bad Company 2 came out, it immediately climbed to the top of the multiplayer charts, but lately, it’s been in a steady decline, at least according to gameplay statistics from Xbox Live. Why? According to GameInformer, it’s simply too easy to attain all the ranks and unlocks, leaving little left to play for after a month or two.
Unlike Battlefield 2, where it took a long, long time to get some of the ranks and awards, Bad Company 2 has eased up a lot since it’s also on consoles, and console gamers aren’t as hard core as their PC counterparts.
GameInformer points out that in some of the competing games, like Modern Warfare 2 and Call Of Duty: World At War, it takes a lot longer to get some of the ranks as opposed to Bad Company 2. Which is also the reason why both games are now more popular than Bad Company 2.

June 6th, 2010 at 8:56 pmagree, increased Lag has made the game pretty unbearable, the patch to fix one’s inability to get all the badges has been unreasonably slow, and i don’t think i ever saw any advertising for BC2. Also keep in mind that the time frame the graph shows included the Halo Reach Beta and the release of a few other multiplayer titles/DLC. Most kids can’t afford another game, so the game they got for xmas (MW2) will continue to have a steady following. I’d look for greater cult status to occur upon release of the new co-op online play, but since its all word of mouth, it’s up to the devs to give its current loyal fans some reason to brag.

However, the PC version shines in this regard more so because the lag issues are coupled with some of the most atrocious hit boxes ever seen in an FPS game (check out this video: http://www.xfire.com/video/2552b5/). Add to this the fact that only around 10% of PC (5% in HC mode) servers are populated. This version also has some extremely bad imbalances in the guns and lots of unique bugs in the maps that ruin the game. I won’t even mention how abused the Carl Gustav is but 99% of players use it as a primary weapon and that alone has caused thousands of people to stop playing. DICE obviously don’t really play the game themselves aside from testing or they would have not gone 2 months now without a single fix. Oh, and the knife is broken as well!

It’s easy to gain ranks in CoD:MW2 and W@W, so easy it makes me yawn.
It’s not because of that why BC2 is losing players, it’s because of FPS-Latency, numerous bugs, and other problems.

June 16th, 2010 at 6:59 pmThe thing that makes the game bad is the fact that even when an individual has a top of the market PC with enough bandwidth to ping in single digits it still takes him multiple attempts to stab someone directly in the center of the back of the head. What is up with this in game non response to melee attacks? Sometimes it responds sometimes it doesn’t. This severely weakens the quality of the game in my opinion.

June 17th, 2010 at 8:03 amIt’s not surprising this would happen, they took a good game and then turn it to crap by listening to the whiners in the community saying this weapon is overpowered or that weapon is overpowered. They manage to nerf weapons that didn’t need it. Even I quit playing the game, if they want the numbers to go back up just delete that last patch that screwed everything up, revert back to the patch before, quit listening to snot nosed punks who complain about everything dam thing that kills them in the game and start from scratch.
